Share your successful Rush ideas!

I know that many of our Chapters rush in the Fall.  Do you have an event that is always a huge success?  How do you get to know the potential new members?  Share your ideas with other Chapters by writing about them in The Mask, on our Facebook Page, or in the comments on the blog.

  1. Hello my name is Eric Kalita from the new Epsilon Omicron chapter in Buffalo, NY in Province I. As the Chaplain of our new chapter, we have been seeking rush event ideas. Although we have just been established, our karaoke night rush event was a huge success. We rented out a karaoke establishment for the night and encouraged all to attend. It was a great chance for all of our brothers to get together. We were initially worried about people being too nervous or shy to attend, but after all of the brothers were up on stage, all of the potential pledges broke out of their shells. It gave us a great opportunity to really meet them and to mix potential pledges with brothers throughout the night. This event also allowed the potential pledges to see our true personalities and brotherhood. It really opened their eyes and got them thinking about becoming a part of the special bond we all share. Needless to say, it was a huge success, more so than we had ever anticipated and a ton of fun for all who attended. If anyone has any questions feel free to email myself (kalite11@dyc.edu) or our whole chapter (epsilonomicron@kappapsi.org). On behalf of Epsilon Omicron, we wish all other chapters well with all future rushing and pledging events.

  2. For Epsilon Mu,
We are a distance site campus and focus on spending a lot of time with rushes before bids are considered. Our campus holds an info session where all organizations can set up display boards and speak to the new class. We consider this the first rush event. From there we do Bowling, an afternoon Picnic that rushes are welcomed to bring family to (we do as well), a service event (usually making breakfast and lunch at the Ronald McDonald house), an industry dinner/discussion and closing with a Q&A session utilizing a modified power point based off the one on the webpage.
